Volunteer as a ghost or zombie in Hutchinson

The Volunteer Center of Reno County, a United Way Agency, is a central clearinghouse for volunteer opportunities in Reno County. Area non-profit and governmental organizations have submitted the following requests for help. HUTCHINSON REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER is needing volunteers to help assist at the Information Desk. Volunteer hours are flexible Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Volunteers will greet visitors, answer the phone, and use a computer to look up names of patients. Volunteers are also needed at the ICU Waiting Room front desk. Volunteers will greet visitors, answer the phone, monitor the sign-in sheet of family members and visitors, visit with families when needed, etc. Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., and the hours can be flexible within those times. Volunteers are needed in the gift shop from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. to greet shoppers, assist them with purchases, ring up sales on the cash register, sack purchases and find appropriate boxes as needed for some items.

RENO COUNTY MUSEUM will be holding their annual “BOOSEUM SPOOK WALK” event October 20th. Volunteers are needed from 2 p.m.-5p.m. to help set up for the event. From 5 p.m.-8 p.m. volunteers are needed to help at the drink station, craft table, raffle ticket table, or dress up as ghosts from Hutchinson’s past and say a few lines while handing out candy to children. Volunteers are also needed to help tear down and clean up from 8 pm. until whenever finished.

STRATACA is holding a “ZOMBIE 5K FUN RUN” on Sunday, October 23rd. Volunteers are needed to help with registration above ground from 7:30 a.m.-9 a.m. “Zombie” volunteers are needed to “scare” runners while also assisting runners as needed along the route. These volunteers are highly encouraged to dress up and use makeup and face paint to achieve a zombie look.

HUTCHINSON ZOO’s “BOO AT THE ZOO” will be Saturday, October 29. Volunteers aged 16 and up are needed to help with set up from 9 a.m.-11 a.m., as well as from 1:15 p.m.-5:30 p.m. to assist zoo staff at the mini-farm, run candy to candy stations, work a candy station, or be a train line attendant, or from 5 p.m.-6 p.m. to help with clean up after the event. Volunteers aged 18 and up are needed to monitor bouncy houses from 1:15p.m.-5:30 p.m. Volunteers should be able to stand and walk as needed and interact with the public in a courteous manner.

The 3A/4A STATE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT will be held October 28 at the Sports Arena. Volunteers are needed from 7:10 a.m.-12:10 p.m., 12:10 .-5:10 p.m., and 5:10-9:00 p.m. to take tickets and work as door security. Chairs and a meal card will be provided, and breaks will be given during the shifts. Volunteers must be pleasant and able to interact with the general public in a positive manner.

PACKAGE 50,000 MEALS FOR THOSE IN NEED On Saturday, December 3, 2022. The plan is to keep the meals local, providing food for our neighbors. There is a job for all ages 7 to 100 years of age.
